SGC Analog

Flexible and robust: Analog cameras for stationary and mobile applications

The SGC Analog is an established solution for the visual monitoring of switchgear installations in power distribution networks. It provides a clear indication of disconnector and earthing switch positions, thereby contributing to safe and efficient operation.

The cameras are specifically designed for use in medium- and high-voltage installations, including gas-insulated and air-insulated switchgear, hybrid solutions, as well as generators and GCBs (Generator Circuit Breakers). Thanks to their robust design and IP65 protection rating, they are suitable for demanding environmental conditions.

The SGC Analog is based on proven analog technology and offers a direct connection between the camera and the PVU (Portable Video Unit). Analog systems are particularly advantageous in environments where reliability, a simple system architecture, and independence from IP-based technologies are essential.

In addition, the SGC Analog Short is available as an alternative compact version. It features a side-mounted connector, allowing for flexible integration.

Benefits at a glance

  • Flexible use: Stationary installation or mobile operation with the Portable Video Unit (PVU)
  • Complete system solution: Kappa delivers the complete system, from cables to the PVU
  • Parallel connection: Up to three cameras can be connected to the PVU simultaneously
  • Optimized visibility: Special optics and LED illumination for minimal reflections
  • Analog technology: Point-to-point connection between the cameras and the PVU
  • Direct camera switching via the PVU control buttons
  • Easy integration: Compatible with all common viewports and adapter solutions
  • Available with either a rear-mounted connector (SGC Analog) or a side-mounted connector (SGC Analog Short)

Analog solution systems

Analog portable solution

The Portable Video Unit (PVU) enables flexible, off‑grid monitoring of switchgear installations. Up to three cameras can be connected simultaneously to clearly display the switching positions of each phase. The PVU features a 10" monitor that allows precise visual inspection. Thanks to battery operation, the solution is ideal for mobile use and temporary monitoring applications—robust, compact, and ready for immediate operation.

Benefits:

  • Battery operation for up to 5 hours
  • Ideal for maintenance and temporary inspections

Analog static solution

The static solution is designed for permanent integration into switchgear installations. The cameras are mounted directly onto the viewports of GIS or hybrid switchgear systems and connected via permanently installed cables to feed-through connectors in the LCC (Local Control Cabinet) panel.

Through the LCC panel, service technicians can connect directly to the cameras on site using the PVU (Portable Video Unit). The PVU features up to three video inputs, allowing multiple cameras to be connected simultaneously. Convenient switching between individual camera views is enabled via the integrated control buttons.

Benefits:

  • Static installation for continuous monitoring
  • Robust connection via integrated feedthrough connectors
  • Ideal for safety‑critical environments
  • Compatible with all common viewports
